Quarta - De Matteis Foundation

The Quarta - De Matteis Fondation was launched in may 2023 and is mainly aimed at international cooperation for sustainable development, human rights, and peace.

The Foundation is particularly active in the fields of education and research and in the promotion of cultural activities of social interest, both locally and internationally.

Some of the activities

Promotion of education in the Amazon

Support for interventions promoting education and sustainable development in Brazil through the activities of the non-governmental organization Amazonia. In particular, the Foundation has funded the renovation of school buildings and the enhancement of teaching capacity, with the aim of improving school education in the indigenous communities in Jauaperì Park in the state of Amazonas.

Humanitarian aid in Ukraine

Provision of humanitarian aid in Ukraine through the activities of associations as Giuditta Rescue Team e Associazione Fuoriluogo. Among the initiatives supported by the Foundation is the building of a community bakery in Kharkiv.

Humanitarian aid in Gaza

Fundraising activities and financial support for humanitarian aid interventions provided by the non-governmental organization Emergency in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.

Social awareness

Training and social awareness activities on the humanitarian consequences of the israeli-palestinian conflict. Among other initiatives, the Foundation has participated to the Global March to Gaza and has led seminars and discussion groups at schools.

Educational support

Training activities on peace and global citizenship, and on the values underlying the National Liberation struggle as well as the Constitution of the Italian Republic.

Research work

Conduction or promotion of studies about the process of socio-economic development. Among others, the findings of a study supported by the Fondation will be presented at the Quarta Conferenza Internazionale organized by the international review Scuola Democratica, which will be run at La Sapienza University in Rome on 1-4 September 2026. The study is focused on the analysis of inequality and discrimination in the Brazilian educational system.

Cultural diplomacy

Preparation and coordination of an international conference aimed at the discussion of religious and cultural aspects related to the crisis in the Holy Land.
